Commercial Refrigeration Technician

Job Summary of Commercial Refrigeration Technician:

Installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration systems in commercial, industrial, or residential settings are the duties of a Commercial Refrigeration Technician. This position entails identifying systemic issues, carrying out regular maintenance, and confirming the effectiveness and security of refrigeration machines.

Responsibilities for Commercial Refrigeration Technician:

• Works independently with minimal supervision to carry out routine maintenance and repair of refrigeration systems throughout the warehouse.
• Carries out maintenance, repairs, and fine-tuning on refrigeration equipment and tracks system efficiency.
• Changing elements in the refrigeration system with the application of safe lockout/tagout protocols and compliance with the Process Safety Management initiative.
• Conduct the fundamental action of pumping out or evacuating refrigerant as required for valve replacement or repair.
• Maintains different types of warehouse equipment through standard OSHA-compliant procedures.
• Employs instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers, and pressure gauges to gauge, sustain, and appraise the performance of machinery. Performs tests and adjustments on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment to ensure proper calibration.

Qualification for Commercial Refrigeration Technician:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• 5 years combined Industrial Refrigeration and/or Industrial Maintenance experience with a minimum of 2 years of employment experience in industrial refrigerationCompletion of RETA Operator 1 course preferred.
• In lieu of RETA course - successful completion of industry recognized Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration training (Stellar, Frick, GCAP/Lanier or employer comparable training program), equivalent in scope will be considered.Troubleshooting and repairs with differing control systems ALTA/Allen Bradley etc.
• Required to be trained in HAZMAT, and any assigned Industrial Refrigeration and maintenance courses.
• Fully competent ta high degree in mechanical knowledge.
• CARO and CIRO certification preferred.
• Proficient use of testing equipment.
• Must be able twork flexible shifts, if required, including on call.
• Share knowledge, train and develop less experienced technicians.

• Ability to adapt to working conditions that involve indoor environments set at -20 degrees Fahrenheit and exposure to outdoor elements like heat, cold, and precipitation could be necessary.
• Applicants must be comfortable working at heights greater than 35 feet and able to access raised platforms and catwalks
• Being capable of climbing staircases and ladders is a must. Tasks often involve standing, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, kneeling, and squatting. Lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds is frequently required.
• Capability in the use of hand and mechanical equipment is essential.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
• Whether by natural means or with the assistance of eyeglasses (the use of contact lenses is not recommended when dealing with ammonia).
• Available for night and weekend shifts.
• Able tpass a physical and respiratory exam.
