Job Summary of Forklift Maintenance Technician:

A Forklift Maintenance Technician is tasked with identifying, fixing, and upkeeping forklifts and other material handling machinery to guarantee secure and effective functioning. The position includes resolving issues in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, executing proactive maintenance, and confirming adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities for Forklift Maintenance Technician:

• Perform routine and complex material handling equipment (MHE), repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the warehouse.
• Provide maintenance support as necessary tensure operational objectives are met. Perform troubleshooting and repair of material handling equipment and other powered industrial equipment as assigned.
• Provide outside service provider oversight and monitoring.
• Performs in depth troubleshooting of MHE electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.Rebuilds and/or replaces major components (i.e mast, undercarriage, transmissions, engines/motors, etc.).
• Performs preventative maintenance, repair and adjustment of material handling equipment.
• Inspects forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment tensure compliance with OSHA and operational standards.Maintains batteries and chargers in working order in accordance with OSHA Standards.
• Performs routine and complex maintenance on various types of warehouse equipment in accordance with OSHA Standards.Tests, maintains, and evaluates equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and any other testing instruments.
• Conducts tests of safety equipment tensure OHSA and operational standards.Maintains accurate preventive maintenance records within the CMMS system.
• work area and tools 6S'd (well maintained, clean, organized, etc.), and performs housekeeping duties as required.Performs related work and other job assignments as required.Shares knowledge, train and develop less experienced technicians.

Qualification for Forklift Maintenance Technician:

• A high school diploma or its equivalent, a General Education Development (GED) certificate, is a necessary requirement.
• years of experience in maintenance, with at least 2 years specifically working as a technician for Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
• It is recommended to have formal technical training in material handling equipment (MHE), with a preference for brands like Hyster, Crown, Toyota, or Raymond.
• Extensive practical experience may serve in place of formal training when first applying for a job.
• Train in hazardous materials handling is mandatory, must acquire and uphold certification. Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP is favored). Proficiency in basic computer operations is essential (emailing, online searches, simple data input, etc.).
• Possessing a deep understanding of Microsoft Office Suite. Standing out by being proficient in MHE expertise. Demonstrating robust abilities in communication and building relationships. Being well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proficiency in mathematical and record-keeping abilities is essential. Capability to engage in manual tasks in mechanically focused scenarios.
• Demonstrating proficiency in adhering to both oral and written directives.
• Being adaptable to work varying schedules, including on-call shifts, is necessary.
• Proficient in identifying and resolving issues at the component level for various material handling machinery.
• Demonstrating mastery of SAP PM (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is required within a 60-day timeframe for executing their roles and obligations efficiently.

• Ability to ascend ladders and staircases is essential. Regularly standing, walking, exerting force, extending arms, bending, kneeling, and squatting are common tasks. It is often necessary to lift and relocate objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Proficiency in handling both manual and mechanical tools is required.
• This position necessitates specific visual skills such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, ability to distinguish colors, and perception of depth.
• Whether by natural means or with the assistance of spectacles.
• Contact lenses are not allowed when handling ammonia. Availability to work evening and weekend shifts is required.
• Capable of successfully completing a physical evaluation and respiratory assessment.
